Hat-trick for The Shannon Airport Group - Shortlisted for Three National Sustainability Awards

Wednesday 10th September 2025: The Shannon Airport Group is delighted to announce today that it has been shortlisted for the prestigious Chambers Ireland 2025 Outstanding Achievement in Sustainable Business Impact Award.  This brings to three the number of national sustainability award nominations which the Group has received in recent weeks.  These nominations recognise the Group’s leadership in sustainability and its pioneering work in biodiversity and conservation.

The hat-trick of award nominations are:

Chambers Ireland - Outstanding Achievement in Sustainable Business Impact Award.

Chambers Ireland - Environment & Biodiversity Award.

Ireland’s Climate Change Leadership Awards - Biodiversity Project of the Year Award.

Welcoming today’s announcement, Sinéad Murphy, Head of Sustainability at The Shannon Airport Group said: “We are honoured to be shortlisted for three national sustainability awards. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the strength of our sustainability strategy.

We’re especially proud of the Thady’s Hill project, which showcases our innovative approach to biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management. It’s a powerful example of what can be achieved through collaboration, and we’re thrilled that it has been recognised by both Chambers Ireland and the ICCLA. These nominations inspire us to continue driving positive environmental and social impact across our operations.”

The Chambers Ireland 2025 Outstanding Achievement in Sustainable Business Impact Award nomination, announced today, reflects the Group’s long-standing commitment to embedding sustainability across its operations. Key initiatives include a carbon reduction strategy aligned with national climate targets, investment in renewable energy infrastructure, and the integration of circular economy principles. The Group also demonstrates strong social impact through community partnerships, education and skills development, and inclusive employment practices.

The Group’s Biodiversity Enhancement and Conservation Grazing Project at Thady’s Hill has been shortlisted in the Environment & Biodiversity category of the Chambers Ireland Awards and as Biodiversity Project of the Year at Ireland’s Climate Change Leadership Awards. This initiative, launched ahead of National Biodiversity Week 2025, is part of the Group’s five-year Biodiversity Action Plan and marks Ireland’s first conservation grazing project on airport-owned land.

Winners of the Chambers Ireland Sustainable Business Impact Awards will be announced on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin. The ICCLA award winners will be announced on October 3rd at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
