Communications Specialist - Maternity Leave Contract

Role Purpose

We are hiring a Communications Specialist to join our team on a specific purpose maternity leave contract commencing November 2023. The Communications Department of The Shannon Airport Group is based in Shannon Airport, Co. Clare. The role has an option of a hybrid working model and will report to the Head of Communications. 
 
This is an exciting opportunity in which the ideal candidate will cover the day-to-day activities of a busy, dynamic communications department. The primary function of the role requires a variety of communications skills (verbal, written and social media) to support The Shannon Airport Group’s corporate communications objectives.  
 
The position will help communications efforts, developing and executing integrated strategies that engage media and excite audiences about The Shannon Airport Group, Shannon Airport and the group’s commercial properties activities.  

  Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing high-impact communications/PR campaigns and strategies, and monitoring their success. 
  • Reaching out to influencers, media and beyond to raise awareness and understanding of The Shannon Airport Group. 
  • Drafting press releases, media statements and answering media inquiries in a timely manner.  
  • Content creation for social media including video. 
  • Assisting the Head of Communications in stakeholder engagement.  
  • Assisting with the provision of media advice and support to colleagues and stakeholders.  
  • Keeping up to date with all issues that affect the company.  
  • Participating in crisis communication preparedness activities. 
  • Maintaining and managing shared appointments and calendar of events for the department. 
  • Updating media lists and databases on a regular basis. 
  • Supporting the work of internal communications
  • Assisting with the day-to-day activities of the Communications Department and other such duties the company may from time to time reasonably require. 
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience 
The candidate should have:
  • A bachelor’s degree/or relevant qualification in PR/communications/media or a related field. 
  • Three to five years' relevant experience at a senior level in communications. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, communication, storytelling and project management skills. 
  • The ability to work flexibly and to meet deadlines as part of a busy 24/7 communications department is vital.  
  • Strong social media skills. 
  • Excellent organisational skills.  
  • Experience in designing and executing communications plans and strategies to deliver business objectives. 
  • The ability to multitask and simultaneously manage multiple projects with different deadlines. 
  • A solid understanding of print, online, television, and radio media outlets. 
  • Proven examples of press release writing and social media efforts. 
  • Experience of working as part of a team, as well as independently. 
  • An established range of media contacts from across journalism. 
  • Basic mobile video editing skills. 
  • Flexibility, as from time to time the role can involve unsocial hours.

Mechanical Fitter

The primary focus of this role is to operate, maintain and support the various Shannon Airports mechanical plant, systems and equipment, to the highest standard and to ensure overall business continuity. This role involves working in conjunction with all disciplines in the Engineering department and other key airport stakeholders and specialist contractors in the safe provision of effective planned and reactive maintenance.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Ownership and responsibility for effectively and efficiently maintaining the Airport terminal facilities, including the baggage handling system, air-conditioning systems, airbridges, lifts and escalators, boiler and heating distribution systems.
  • Planned preventative maintenance programme and completion of reactive maintenance and repairs/modifications of all mechanical facilities and systems (excluding electrical systems)
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical plant and equipment
  • Complete all works to highest applicable standards
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive, timely, records and documentation  
  • Use of CMMS to plan, record and document the planned maintenance work
  • Participate in insurance and safety audits
  • Participate in cost saving and efficiency related initiatives
Other duties that may be assigned by the Airport Engineering and Operations management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Qualified Fitter certification - completion of a recognised apprenticeship to QQI Level 6 advanced certificate or equivalent
  • Extensive and relevant maintenance experience in mechanical facilities, systems, conveyor systems, plant and equipment
  • Demonstrable understanding of the building services operations and associated systems
  • Strong practical demonstrable fault finding and trouble-shooting capability
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • A good working knowledge of MS Office CMM System
  • Strong independent work initiative, self-motivated with the ability to work closely within the team and with other disciplines
  • Display strong interpersonal, communication, documentation and record-keeping and problem solving skills
  • Flexible with regard to working hours and available to respond to out of hours faults in areas of responsibility
  • Full Class B Driving Licence

Electrician - 18 month Fixed Term Contract

The Shannon Airport Group is seeking an Electrician to join our team at Shannon Airport on a Fixed Term Contract basis. The contract is a standard day shift. The successful candidate must be available to work a shift cover over a 24-hour cycle as and when required to meet the operational business need.
 
We welcome applications from persons who have completed a recognized electrical qualification with post apprenticeship experience, preferably industrial, who are open to the challenge of working in a team-oriented environment with responsibility for ensuring the effective monitoring and maintenance of all electrical infrastructure across the airport campus.
Role Purpose
To always ensure optimum service, it is vital that the complex landside and airfield electrical infrastructure and communications systems at Shannon Airport are maintained to the highest standards. The role encompasses planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance in a diverse range of landside and airfield electrical infrastructural assets. As aspects of this work are aviation specific on the job training shall be provided.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Completion of planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance on electrical infrastructural assets to include Airfield lighting; Aerodrome compliance; Planned Maintenance programme; Building Services; Fire Alarm systems; Emergency Lighting systems; Car Park systems; Street lighting; Lifts/escalators; HVAC; HBS Maintenance; Heating and Water systems and minor projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high standard of work on all elements of monitoring, reporting and maintenance of electrical assets to NSAI and EASA standards
  • Carry out critical asset repairs, inspections, and health checks of systems
  • Use, promote and monitor the asset management CMMS
  • Regular monitoring of Electrical Scada Systems
  • Support Airport Facilities Management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The candidates should have
  • Electrical trade apprenticeship and appropriate trade certificates
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working as a fully qualified industrial electrician
  • Good working knowledge of electrical systems design, operations, and maintenance of high voltages systems (ideally airfield based)
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated and/or safety critical working environment
  • Familiar with and understand the NSAI regulation and how they affect the maintenance works of major electrical systems
  • Understand the safety regulations and have a strong concern for the health and safety of self and others
  • Competent IT skills with experience with Windows based software
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, with team members, Airport Engineering Team and wider stakeholder
  • Strong problem-solving skills accepting ownership for delivery and accountability for results
  • Strong work ethic and high attention to detail and quality of work
  • Full Clean Class B Licence
