Taxi Stand Permit

Taxi Stand Permits are a requirement for drivers wishing to operate/ply for hire from the taxi stand at Shannon Airport. (Current registration period is now closed.)

A taxi license does not provide an automatic right of entry to Shannon Airport, the designated taxi holding area or the taxi stand. The licence holder must also hold a Taxi Stand Permit.

Who Can Apply?

Individuals or entities who hold a valid SPSV license.

All taxi drivers applying for a permit to operate at Shannon Airport must be compliant with National Transport Authority regulations regarding the operation of a taxi.

Permit Details:

• Shannon Airport Annual Permit fee is €320 and operates from April to March.
• Payable by bank transfer/PayPal.
• Failure to pay will result in automatic loss of permit.
• Additional drivers cannot be added to a taxi permit. 
• One car, one driver per permit.
• Only the driver named on the Taxi Stand Permit is permitted to ply for hire from the taxi stand at Shannon Airport. Taxi Stand Permit Holder must ensure that the taxi permit and/or tag are only used by the Taxi Stand Permit Holder.
• At all times the Taxi Stand Permit and associated tag remains the property of Shannon Airport and may not be altered in any way.

Applications Requirements/Process

Applicants must submit:

• A completed application form.
• Payment of the annual Taxi Permit fee
• Evidence that the applicant holds a SPSV licence

Pre-Booked Taxi Permit

A Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) is a requirement for SPSV holders wishing to collect a pre-booked fare from a designated area at Shannon Airport.

Shannon Airport will provide a walkway with appropriate signage to this area for pre-booked customers.

Pre-booked customers must make their own way to this area.

Pre-Booked Permit Holder are not permitted to leave their vehicles for the purpose of meeting customers in the arrivals hall.

Picking up a fare on Shannon Airport Grounds other than the designated area is not permitted. 

Permit holders can drop off customers at the drop-off zone but not pick up from there. All pick ups must be from the designated pre-booked taxi area.

Pre-Booked Permit Holder are not permitted to pick up pre-booked fares in the stand permit zone.

Who Can Apply?

Permit Details:

• This Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) must be displayed prominently on the left side of the vehicle window screen and produced at the request by Airport Police, Shannon Airport officials or designated agent.
• Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) is issued at Shannon Airport’s absolute discretion.
  Shannon Airport retain the right to restrict the number of permits if required.
• Applications for A Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) must be made annually. Shannon Airport will advertise the application process and deadline on its website, via social media and via the NTA.
• The Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) fee is €25 per annum and operates for 12 months from date of issue.

• Once approved, payment of the annual Taxi Permit (Pre-Booked Only) fee will be requested via email.
• Once received, permit will be issued.
