Each year, our staff at the Shannon Airport Group nominates and votes for two charities close to their hearts, and work hard to raise much needed funds on their behalf - over the course of that year. Our Charity Committee is made up of staff across our various commercial property, Airport and professional services departments to organise and manage fundraising events.
This is truly a team effort, passionately driven by our staff from right across the group. We are proud of the wonderful work that goes into organising so many fun events to raise funds for our chosen charities.
To date, we are proud to say that our people have raised over €350,000 for our charity partners. In years gone by, chosen charities have included Irish Cancer Society, Limerick Suicide Watch, Share a Dream and Clare Crusaders and we are committed to continue building on this.
Rita Meehan, Chairperson of the Shannon Airport Group Charity Committee said, “We are thrilled to be able to host our first in-person charity event in over two years, to raise much needed funds for our two chosen charities, Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin, and Clare Cancer Support, Sláinte an Chláir.
“Because it is the season of giving, all our guests will be entered into a draw for a trip for two to Paris from Shannon Airport, on the night. We will also have some incredible spot prizes to be won during our raffle, including hotel breaks, flights, restaurant vouchers and more. We would like to thank STS Aviation Group and all our sponsors for their support."
In 2022, the committee hosted one of our largest fundraising events to date as a fashion show inside Dromoland Castle for 350 guests. The glamorous event raised vital funds in aid of Clare Cancer Support and The Children’s Health Foundation Ireland – the Group’s two designated charities for 2022.
Looking forward to another year of fundraising
This year our chosen charities are CMRF Crumlin and Sláinte an Chláir, Clare Cancer Support. We are looking forward to a hectic year of fundraising for both these charities, helping them continue the marvellous work.
- Sláinte an Chláir, Clare Cancer Support was selected as our local charity partner. The group’s main focus is to supports the people of Clare and their families affected by cancer by providing a range of supportive services and treatments.
- CMRF Crumlin was chosen as our national charity. This charity is dedicated to providing vital funding to paediatric research and also provide critical supports and funding to sick children from all over Ireland who attend CHI Crumlin for diagnosis, treatment, and care on their patient journey.
